Ogozaly July 26, 2006 Edward J. Ogozaly, 76, of Whites Crossing, Carbondale Township, died Wednesday at Marian Community Hospital, Carbondale. His wife, the former Patricia Barnard, diedin 1996. Born in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late John and Stella Shock Ogozaly Sr. He attended school in Fell Township and was an Army veteran, serving during the Korean War. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a truck driver. He was a member of St. Michael's Church, Simpson. Edward especially loved his grandchildren and will be missed by hisfamily. Surviving are three sons, Edward Jr., Richmond, Va.; Walter, South Canaan; and John, Carbondale; four daughters, Deborah Vivian, Fleetville; Lou-Ann Ogozaly, Whites Crossing; and Joann Blauvelt and Darlene Gebert, both of Carbondale; three brothers, John, Simpson; Donald, Forest City; and Robert, Carbondale; four sisters, Patricia Farrell, Manchester, Conn.; Veronica Maslona, East Harford, Conn.; Joanne Petrick, Summerland, Fla.; and Irene Kirk, Vernon, Conn.; 15 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph and Eugene; and four sisters, Mary Moran, Christine Thomas, Jean Morgan and Victoria Hunt. The funeral will be Saturday from the Joseph W. Scotchlas Funeral Home Inc., 621 Main St., Simpson, with Mass at 9:30 a.m. in St. Michael's Church, Simpson, to becelebrated by the Rev. Hilary L. Malinowski. Interment in the parish cemetery. Barnard, 59 [?], a well-known citizen of Winsted, died at the hospital at 6 o'clock last evening of diabetes, from which he had long been a sufferer and complications. He had been at the hospital only eight days. "Ralph Griswold Barnard was born in Colebrook, April 10, 1855 [sic], son of Nelson I. and Augusta C. (Hart) Barnard, and attended the Colebrook public schools. In 1878 he was married to Miss Ida M. Clark of Otis, Mass. For a time he was proprietor of a hotel at Otis, coming to Winsted 28 years ago and for many years conducted a painting and decorating business, ill health causing him to retire a few years ago. For three years past he had a grocery store on East Lake street, which he disposed of last spring. "Mr. Barnard had a wide circle of acquaintances and will long be remembered. She was a member of the Colebrook Congregational Church, Past matron of the Victory Grange, the Colebrook Associates, the Colebrook Historical Society, and the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was also a Past Worthy Matron for the Magnolia Lodge of the O.E.S. in Winsted. Sheis survived by one daughter, Mary G. Falcone of Wethersfield; two sons, Peter B. Cooper of Manhattan, Kan., and David G. Cooper of New York City; one sister, Marion Weltman of Oldsmar, Fla.; one brother, wilbert Swift of Narbeth, Pa.; and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother, Spencer Bruce. Cremation is planned, with memorial servicesto be at a later date in Colebrook. Sweeney, of Bloomfield; her grandchildren, Elizabeth Anne Sweeney of West Hartford and James Todd Sweeney of Tampa, FL; and her brother, Irving Wormstedt in Florida. The funeral service will be Saturday, 1:30 p.m. at the Sheehan-Hilborn-Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Ave., West Hartford with the Rev. Dwight Dutton officiating. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Pleasant Valley, Barkhamsted. Visitation will be Saturday, 12 Noon until the time of the service.
