The Wintonbury Historical Society's 1983 publication, From Wintonbury To Bloomfield, p. 141, notes that after completion of the building of the stone school in 1858 for the Southwest district on Simsbury Road (and still standing in 1983), "'all boards, lime, sand, mortar, stone etc. left over' were sold at auction to W. M. Barnard for $2.25."
