D'AMATO, Anthony A. Anthony A. D'Amato, 92, the widower of Mildred E. (Barnard) D'Amato died Thursday, (February 10, 2000) at Manchester Memorial Hospital. Born in Hartford he had been a resident of Manchester since 1953. Prior to his retirement Anthony had been employed by the Metropolitan District Company and was a US Army Veteran of World War II, a member of the Disabled American Veterans' and a life member of the Knights of Columbus, Manchester. He is survived by his children and their spouses Archie and Jo Ann D'Amato of Vernon, Maria and George Prattson of Vernon, Louise and Robert Herdlein of Manchester, Tony and Cathy D'Amato of Manchester and Joseph and Leslie D'Amato of Meriden; eleven grandchildren;two great grandsons; his sister Connie McDonald of Wethersfield; his sister-in-law Philomena D'Amato of Wethersfield and several nieces and nephews. Besides his wife Anthony was predeceased by his grandson Patrick. Funeral service will be held on Monday at 8:15 a.m. from the John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 West Center St, Manchester followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. at St. Bridget church with burial in St. James Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 7- 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers the D'Amato family requests memorial donations be made to eitherthe Mary Queen of the Universe Shrine, 8300 Vineland Ave., Orlando, FL 32821 or a charity of the donors choice.
