      James W. "Red" Howard, Jr., 69, of East Main Street, Vernon, died Tuesday (Dec. 26, 1995) at his home. He was the husband of Clare (Aldrich) Howard. Born in Hartford, the son of the late James W. and Alice (Barnard) Howard, he had lived inEnfield for many years before coming to Vernon eight years ago. Mr. Howard was a Marine Corps Veteran of World War II, and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He was a member of the D.A.V. Chapter No. 52 and the V.F.W. Post 1501, Thompsonville. Mr. Howard was a Truck Driver for 40 years with Teamster locals no. 404 and no. 449, and had been the Union Steward for local no. 404. He was a member of Euclid Lodge No. 109, AF&AM, Pythagoras-Wells Chapter No. 17, R.A.M., Wolcott Council No. 1, R.&S.M., Washington Commandry No. 1, K.T. , Sphinx Temple Shrine, and Ionic Chapter O.E.S. Besides his wife, he leaves ten children; six step-children; two brothers, Robert Howard of El Cahon, CA, and Allan Howard of WarehousePoint; two sisters, Louise Heald and Florence Stimpson, both of Enfield; and many grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Saturday, Dec. 30, 10 a.m., at the Ladd-Turkington Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Rd. (Route 83),Vernon, with the Rev. Arthur Dunham officiating.       HOWARD. Dorothy Eleanor (Regan) Howard, 67, of Bloomfield, left this earth Saturday (Aug. 26, 1995) after a long illness. She was born in Hartford, a daughter of the late Raymond R. and Bertha V. (Cowing) Regan. She leaves two sons, James W. Howard III of Newington, and Raymond R. Howard of Hartford, and their spouses. She also leaves a brother, James Reganof Hartford; two sisters, Rae Marie Rescott of Wethersfield, and Audrey Newton of West Hartford, and their spouses; five grandchildren; as well as beloved nieces and nephews. A Memorial Funeral Mass will observed at a later date, at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. Please omit flowers and donations.
