Robert "Bob" Barnard, 86, of Salem, died Saturday (July 12, 2003) at his home. Born in Hartford, son of the late George C. and Irene (Nichols) Barnard, he had lived in East Haddam and Hartford before moving to Salem in 1985. Bob served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was the former owner and president of Bristol Metal Working Equipment Company. He leaves two daughters, Susan Chamberlin of Coventry, Nancy Leonard ofCalifornia; a brother, William Barnard of Niantic; two grandsons, James and Jeffrey Baral; a great grandson, James Baral Jr.; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters, Sylvia Barnard and Barbara Tobin. A private family graveside service will be held at Mountain View Cemetery, Bloomfield. There are no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 2550 U.S. Highway 1, North Brunswick, NJ 08902-4301. Carmon Windsor Funeral Home has care of arrangements.
