      Obituary of Zylpha Barnard, The Hartford Courant, 9 Sept. 1908, downloaded and transcribed 20 Nov. 2006: Mrs. Calvin L.Barnard Mrs. Zylpha Barnard, widow of Calvin L. Barnard, died at the home of her son, Byron B. Barnard of Bloomfield, late Monday night from the result of a paralytic shock in June of this year. Mrs. Barnard was the last surviving member of a family of nine children of the late Bidwell and Hannah Buttles Holcomb of Granby. She was born in the town of Granby82 years ago and since her marriage to Mr. Barnard which was about 1846 she had been a resident of Bloomfield. Her husband died in 1899, since which time she resided with her son, who survives her. Several grandchildren, Melville H. Barnard, Edward B. Barnard, Frank Barnard and Miss Orrill Barnard of Bloomfield, also survive her. The funeral will be held atthe home of Byron B. Barnard tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock.
