Barnard, 88 of Bloomfield, husband of Marguerite (Lodovico) Barnard, died Wed. (July 21, 1999). Born in Hartford, he lived in Bloomfield all of his life. He was employed by Pratt &Whitney for over 35 years before retiring. He was a member of the Bloomfield Fire Department for 50 years, having served as asst. chief. He was also a 50 year member of Hiram Lodge #98 A.F. & A.M., a member of the Windsor and Bloomfield Civil Defense, a ham radio operator with the call sign WlVNO and amember of the A.R.R.L. Besides his wife, he leaves threesons, Gordon M. Barnard of Winter Park, FL, John L. Barnard of Bloomfield, Howard J. Barnard of Greenfield, MA; two brothers, Leon H. Barnard, and Norman Barnard both of Bloomfield; seven grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. His family will rcceive friends Friday, 6-8 p.m. at the Carmon Windsor Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Ave., Windsor. Hiram Lodge#98 will conduct a Masonic Service Friday, at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Committal services will be held Saturday, 11 a.m. at Mountain View Cemetery, Bloomfield.       BARNARD, Marguerite L. Marguerite L. Barnard, 98, of Bloomfield, died peacefully on Wednesday, (March 18, 2009) in Windsor. She was born on October 10, 1910 in Italy to the late Patino and Rosaria Lodovico and came to the U.S. as an infant. She was raised and lived most of her life in Bloomfield. Her mother died when she was three, and her father and step-mother, Ruby, cared for her and her two older sisters. In 1933, Peg married Gordon Barnard, and they had to shorten theirhoneymoon when President Roosevelt closed all of the banks. Peg was a member of the First Congregational Church of Bloomfield and the Women's Auxiliary of the Bloomfield Center Fire Department, serving a term as President. She loved reading novels and biographies, caring for her family, and in later years, traveling with Gordon in their travel trailer throughout the United States. She had a quick wit that left people smiling and happy to have known her. Peg Barnard was preceded in death by her loving husband of 66 years, Gordon; a brother, Alfonso Lodovico; two sisters, Mary (Lodovico) Maulucci and Anna (Lodovico) Bedard; a step-brother Ernie; and a granddaughter, Elizabeth Barnard. She is survived by three sons, Gordon M. Barnard and his wife, Elaine of Winter Park, FL., John L. Barnard and his wife Loretta of Bloomfield, and Howard J. Barnard and his wife Cathy of Greenfield, MA; seven grandchildren, Gordie Barnard, Jim Barnard, Linda Barnard,Susan Wrisley, John Barnard, Mike Barnard, and Karen Brunette; and nine great-grandchildren. Arrangements for Peg Barnard are under the direction of Carmon Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Avenue in Windsor. The Barnard family will receive friends from 9-10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 25 in the funeral home. A graveside service will follow at 10:30 a.m. in Mountain View Cemetery in Bloomfield. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to the Bloomfield Ambulance Association, 785 Park Avenue, Bloomfield, CT 06002.
