Obituary of Hazel (Barnard) Beman The Hartford Courant, October 20, 2002 Page: B10 Section: CONNECTICUT Edition: STATEWIDE Type: OBITUARY BEMAN, HAZEL (BARNARD) BEMAN, Hazel (Barnard) Hazel (Barnard) Beman, of Beman Lane, Bloomfield died Saturday, (October 19, 2002) on her 88th birthday in Mansfield. She was born in Bloomfield, daughter of the late Frank and Florence (Walker) Barnard and was a lifelong resident of the community. She was a member of the First Congregational Church in Bloomfield the Women's Guild of the church, and when Gale Memorial Hall was completed in the church she was instrumental in raising funds for the furnishings for the hall. She had been employed by the Bloomfield School System for several years. Hazel was a lover of all of God's creations. She found fulfillment and joy being with her family especially with her grandchildren. She also loved gardening and music. Hazel spent many summers at the family summer home at LakeWilloughby, VT. Her late husband, Herbert C. Beman died October 19, 1992. She is survived by a son, Herbert B. Beman and his wife, Dolores S. of Southwick, MA; and a daughter, Nancy B. Carbone and her husband, Paul J. of Chaplin; two sisters, Ruth Davis of Collinsville and Florrie Kraverotis of Bloomfield; ten grandchildren, Steven Beman, David Beman, Robert Beman, Linda B. Grabowski, Penny Brockett, Eben Brockett, Kevin Brockett, Patrick Carbone, Paul Carbone, Jr., and Linda Carbone; and fifteen great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Donald L. Beman; and two brothers, George Barnard and Robert Barnard. Funeral services will be held Monday at 12:45 p.m. at the Windsor Locks Funeral Home, 441 SpringSt., Windsor Locks with a procession to the First Congregational Church in Bloomfield, 10 Wintonbury Ave., Bloomfield for services at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Linda Huff officiating. Burial will be in Granby Cemetery. Her family will receive friends Monday from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. at the Windsor Locks Funeral Home. Memorial donations are suggested to the First Congregational Church in Bloomfield, 10 Wintonbury Ave., Bloomfield, CT 06002.
