Obituary of Vashti (Cadwell) Carshore, The Hartford Courant, 15 May 1902, downloaded and transcribed 21 Nov. 2006: Mrs.Vashti Carshore Mrs. Vashti Carshore died at West Hartford Monday. She was well known to many of the older residents ofBloomfield and vicinity. She was born in what is now Bloomfield in 1812 and was the daughter of Samuel Cadwell and Julia Barnard Cadwell. She was married in early life to James M. Carshore of Hudson, N. Y., where her married life was spent. Her only children were a son, who died at the age of 18, and a daughter, who died in infancy. Since the death of her husband, about 1856, Mrs. Carshore had resided principally in Bloomfield, but for some time past had made her home with her sister, Mrs. Franklin Sisson, in West Hartford. The late James Madison Cadwell of Bloomfield was a brother and Mrs. Chester Elmer of West Hartford, who died several years since, was a sister of the deceased. Mrs. Carshore had suffered for two years from a cancer, which was the principal cause of death. The funeral will be held at the residence of FranklinSission in West Hartford this afternoon at 1:30 o'clock. Rev. Mr. Todd, pastor of the Baptist Church in Bloomfield, of which the deceased was a member, will conduct the service and the burial will be at Bloomfield.

Vashti married James M. Carshore ( - ), per notes of Eileen B. Phelps
